Stage 1 Completed

​The Waipu Cycling and Walkway Trust was formed to establish a safe walking and cycling track from Waipu to Waipu Cove
Stage 1 is now finished, and it is wonderful to see the number of runners, walkers, cyclists, school students and families using this newest Waipu Community Asset. ​​The Waipu community has fundraised for this project with generous donations and the gifting of nearly 1.5km of private land adjacent to Cove Road. There have also been donations of materials, machinery and time from local businesses and contractors.

Thank you also to so many of you who have offered assistance both practical and financial – we are working through the lists of offers and will be in touch shortly.

Where should the rest of the trail go?
We recently sought feedback from the community to better understand preferences, ideas and concerns.   Over 350 responses were received.

Thanks so much to everyone who did our online survey or provided feedback at the three information stands in Waipu Village. ​Your feedback will help us to form a preliminary design for stage 2 (Estuary View Heights to Waipu Cove) and shape further investigations for stage 3 (linking Riverview Place to Estuary View Heights).

This is an ongoing opportunity to find a solution that meets your objective of creating a safe and enjoyable experience, cycling and walking this much used route.
